Art in the Park 2016

Thank you so much for joining us this year for Art in the Park.

It was our biggest event ever. So many people from our community came out to share the joys of making art together. The result was a big and beautiful installation of individual collages that now sways in the wind like a wind chime.
The installation will be up for a few more days until we move the collages to the adjacent Wellesley Free Library.

Art in the Park

Art in the Park
join us for the forth time to create and make art together as a community!

Art in the Park inspires people of all ages to make art including drawings, paintings, weavings and more. Wellesley Women Artisans started the free annual event with the idea of building community while tapping into Wellesley’s creative side. At last year’s “Neighbors Drawing Neighbors” event some participants said that they hadn’t taken time out to draw in decades! All materials are provided at the event and the community’s finished art piece remains on view for weeks. This year’s project will take place during Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend on Saturday, May 21 in Simons Park next to the Wellesley Free Library from 1 to 4pm. Using leftover industrial materials and donated paper scraps; participants will make a large-scale community collage. The goal is to simply make art together, and evoke emotion through color, shape and movement. The event is made possible with the generous support of Wellesley’s Natural Resources Commission, Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club and Wellesley Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
