A big year for us!

As this year comes to a close, we can't help but notice that 2013 was an amazing year for our group. Our artistic presence in Wellesley is growing stronger and we are excited to bring art to this beautiful community. Take a look at all the beautiful things that happened.

During early spring we got together to create. Laura Fragasso led a class in found objects and sculpture. In only a couple of hours everyone created beautiful pieces. The scavengers in us were more than satisfied!

We had a couple of evenings of support, feedback and wine.

A lot of work went into the Community Art Event that was held during Wellesley's Wonderful weekend in May.

The actual day was amazing! The location next to the Wellesley Library beneath the big old trees was so serene and peaceful. Many folks came by to weave and be part of the collaborative art piece.

After a long summer break we met again, catching up and just having fun together.

And in early December we organized the very first Wellesely Art Walk in conjunction with many Wellesely Square stores. Quite successful we might add.

And finally, the annual art exchange. A personal favorite!

We are  looking forward to 2014 which will surely bring many more art endeavors. Please check back often to stay tuned. We will keep you updated on community art events, let you know about individual accomplishments and also interview our  group's own artisans! Wishing you a creative New Year!

A little holiday tradition!

One of the best things that can happen to you as an artist is an art swap! Our group has made it a tradition to exchange beautiful original art at the end of the year. This year 12 members participated and the results were stunning. As for me, I couldn't ask for anything more this holiday season!

If you'd like to see even more photos you can check out Carolyn's flickr site here!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Blog of  Wellesley Women Artisans. We are a group of women living in Wellesley with a passion for all things art. The group in its present form came together about 2 years ago.

What had started as a way of connecting with other fellow artists to support each other has become an active endeavor to bring art to the community of Wellesley and beyond.

Read more about the things we have done over the past months:

  • A group show in an empty storefront organized by Laura Fragasso, founder of the the Wellesley Community Art Project and member of this group.

  • A few of of our members exhibited at an Abstract Art  Show at the Beehive in Boston curated by Crystalle Lacouture.

We are planning a lot of new creative endeavors so please check back in for more information!
